Tapestry Weaving Workshops in the Studio


TAPESTRY WEAVING WORKSHOPS

This Autumn I've decided to run my first series of classes from my home based studio. They will be geared for beginners or those with some experience or those who just want some creative time. It will be small groups only to add to the relaxed atmosphere.

They are probably most useful to those living in the north east but if you are interested you are welcome to get in touch with me.

TAPESTRY WEAVING COURSES WITH FIONA RUTHERFORD

Fiona Rutherford is a tapestry artist /designer who works from her home based studio in Jesmond in central Newcastle. Using a historical technique, she creates vibrant tapestries for contemporary interiors. Fiona exhibits internationally and her work is held in national public collections.

This Autumn Fiona is offering a series of Tapestry Weaving Workshops at her home for small groups. The workshops are suitable for beginners or those with some experience.

 

SATURDAY WORKSHOPS

In a relaxed and informal atmosphere you will learn the basic techniques of tapestry weaving. Loom frames are provided and you will have access to Fiona’s studio yarns and equipment. At the end of the day you will have your own small tapestry to take home.

Dates: Saturday 19th SEPT/Saturday 24th OCT/ Saturday 14th NOV.

Times: 10am-4pm

Price: £75 (includes light lunch)

 

EVENING WORKSHOPS

Take more time to explore tapestry weaving and fill those Autumn evenings. Fiona is also offering a series of four Wednesday evening classes. You will learn the basic weaving techniques as well as considering colour and design. Loom frames are provided and you will have access to Fiona’s studio yarns and equipment.

Dates: Session 1: Wednesday 14th OCT – Wednesday 4th NOV

          Session 2: Wednesday 11th NOV – Wednesday 2nd DEC

Times: 6pm-9pm

Price: £180

WOMAN'S HOUR - RADIO 4

Woman's Hour is broadcasting the story behind Knitted Lives this Friday morning 28th. August. 

Listen to Radio 4 from 10am. and you will be able to hear Nan (the communist), Audrey (the midwife) and Rene (the carpenter's daughter) talk about their lives and how they became involved in the project.

The next exhibition venue will be from November 19th. - 22nd. at Harrogate at the Knitting and Stitching Show.
